Constellation Plane

Last night me and some of the guys went for a Hagglund mission to check out the C-121 Constellation plane that was crashed into the ice shelf in 1970, The plane is out near the Phoenix airfield. The US Navy plane flew in from NZ and lost visibility of the runway, not having enough fuel for a return to NZ they belly landed on the Ice. Nobody was killed in the crash and apparently all stayed to finished there scientific season.

Me standing on the stabilizer, the tail has been cut off along with the wings. Ross Island in the background.

The plane is in remarkable condition with most of the visible damage caused by removal of parts like the four engines.
