Phoenix Airfield

Today I went out to Phoenix Airfield with the guys from Kenn Borek Air to look at the VHF radio in their DC3, We needed to load a new repeater channel into it.

The DC3 is a 1940s plane but it has had a turbine conversion and is able to operate in the cold temperatures and with skis on the wheels.

While I was out at the airfield there was a C-17 flight land, it was cool to be so close to such a large plane landing and the huge amount of snow it threw up as it landed on the snow runway.

There were a big group of Kiwis on this flight so the base is going to be busy for the next while. I will be busy issuing radios and sat phones tomorrow.
